This contrast between different surfaces expresses the dichotomy between what we show and what we hide, between the light of accepted falseness and the darkness of personal truth.The bowline knot, suspended above the head like a noose, represents the condition of those trapped in this duality: pulling from one side tightens their prison, continuing to wear the mask; pulling from the other side offers the chance to break free and reveal one's authenticity.
